The financially-troubled Windhoek-based carrier had its Scheduled Air Services Licence suspended by the Transportation Commission of Namibia on July 2020. The Commission cited safety and financial concerns, as traffic evaporated as a consequence of the Covid crisis. At the end of 2020 a bunch of domestic flights had been reinstated from the Capital’s Eros airport (ERS) using ERJ-145 regional jets, but the fate of the carrier was communicated by the airline itself on February 11, 2021, when Air Namibia was placed into liquidation and all flights cancelled from that day on. Until the beginning of 2020, Air Namibia had operated flights to some 20 destinations in the southern part of Africa, Lagos and Accra, plus Frankfurt in Europe (Photo Wikimedia Commons / Pedro Aragao)
