Commonly known as BoA, it is the successor company to the former flag carrier Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano , which ceased operations after 87 years. It operates mainly out of three airports in Cochabamba, La Paz and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Long-haul flights to Madrid, operated by Boeing 767-300ER, depart from the latter as the only major Bolivian airport at low altitude, where there are no payload restrictions.
