Previously known as TACV-Trasportes Aereos de Cabo Verde, for about sixty years the airline was a little more than an intra-island operator with just a few weekly long-haul services to Lisbon, Boston and Brazil. In 2018 new owner Loftleidir (the parent company of Icelandair) decided a complete re-branding of the airline, including a new name, a new livery, a revamped onboard service and a new business model based on a hub at Sal Amilcar Cabral airport with the launch of many new routes in Europe, Africa, Brazil and Washington in the US. The all-Boeing 757 fleet has been partly leased from Icelandair. The airline suspended all operations since April 2020 as a consequence of the Covid pandemic
