Based at Toronto Billy Bishop City Airport, situated on an island just a few hundred yards away from downtown, Porter Airlines is a high standards carrier in point of cabin ambiance, seats and onboard service targeting mainly businessmen. Its network extends to the whole south-eastern part of Canada plus a few major US cities including Chicago (MDW), Boston, New York (EWR) and Washington (IAD). In 2013 the carrier announced its intention to buy jet aircraft in the form of the Airbus A220-100 (then Bombardier CS100), in order to grow capacity and extend its network to as far as the US West Coast. The plan necessitated an enlargement of Billy Bishop Airport infrastructure, and in particular an extension of the runway length, but any development has not been approved, yet, and Porter continues to operate an all Dash 8 fleet (Photo Wikimedia Commons / BriYYZ)
