Singapore Airlines is one of only ten carriers in the world recognized as 5-STAR by Skytrax and its hub at Changi airport has been awarded as best airport in the world for several years. The First class suites installed on some of its A380-800 feature separated armchair and bed and have been rated as the world’s best First Class in 2019 by Skytrax. Its female Flight Attendants with their traditional suits, known as “The Singapore Girls”, have become an icon of commercial aviation and a symbol of elegance and class. The airline  is one of the few featuring a 3+3+3 cross-section on its B777-300ERs. Its A350-900ULR (Ultra Long Range), configured with Business and Premium Economy cabins only, operate the longest non-stop flight in the world, linking Singapore and New York Newark: the Newark-Singapore leg has a scheduled flight time of 18 hours and 30 minutes. Not having a domestic network, the airline has been hit particularly in a hard way by the international travel bans issued worldwide as a consequence of the Covid pandemic. As a consequence of the folding of Silk Air into Singapore Airlines, in January 2021 the carrier started to receive Boeing 737s from its former subsidiary (now fully integrated), losing its characteristic of being an all-widebodies airline (Photo Wikimedia Commons / Adrian Pingstone)
