Based in Kyiv, UIA flies a long range-network that reaches as far as North America and East Asia, while the medium-haul includes the Middle-East, Norths Africa and Europe. Economy Class on its Boeing 767-300 features a 2+4+2 cross-section, meaning 8 seats insteda of the usual 7, thus the very narrow seats in the cabin. It never had any fatal accident since its formation in 1992, but on January 8, 2020 one of its B737-800, operating flight PS752 from Teheran to Kyiv, was shot down by an Iranian army missile a few seconds after take-off and all onboard lost their lives.
