May 10, 2021 / Bamboo Airways (QH) announces the start of non-stop flights to the US from September 1. In 2020, the Vietnamese carrier had received approval from the US government to run flights between the two Countries. Daily services from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) will serve Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) using Boeing 787-9s.
In the past year, flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VN) had operated a number of repatriation flights from the US using Boeing 787-10s which had to stop in Anchorage, Alaska, on their way back to Vietnam with full loads of passengers. Bamboo’s rotations to LAX and SFO would be the first ever non-stop scheduled flights between the two Countries.
Bamboo Airways has a fleet of 28 aircraft including 3 Boeing 787-9s, 5 Airbus A321neos, 3 Airbus A321-200s, 6 Airbus A320neos, 6 Airbus A320-200s, 1 Airbus A319-100, 3 Embraer ERJ-195s and 1 ERJ-190. Its Dreamliners feature two different internal layouts with 30 seats in Business, 36 seats in Premium Economy and 226 seats in Economy for a total of 292 seats or 26 seats in Business, 21 seats in Premium Economy and 247 seats in Economy for a total of 294 seats.
