JetBlue revises Airbus order: will take five A321-LR in 2021 for transatlantic services

May 18, 2020 / New York-based JetBlue Airways (B6) announced a defer of the order placed with Airbus for 70 A220-300, 52 A321neo, 13 A321LR and 11 A321XLR. “We negotiated a deal with Airbus to rationalize our order book and we appreciate their partnership in supporting a new delivery schedule that helps our effort to protect JetBlue” Chief Financial Officer Steve Priest said during the quarterly earning calls.
According to its newly announced delivery schedule, JetBlue will receive one A220-300 and seven A321neo in 2020, followed by seven A220-300 and ten A321neo (including five -LR) in 2021. In 2022 the airline will be handed eight A220-300 and seven A321-LR. The carrier added that it will almost certainly defer the launch of its announced services to London from New York and Boston beyond 2021, although it would not abandon the plan entirely.
