Air Transat is Canada’s third largest airline following Air Canada and Westjet. Its business model is a hybrid between a low-cost and a full-service carrier, with many onboard services in Economy available for purchase only, including seat pre-selection, snacks and alcoholic drinks. Its network includes destinations in Canada, the US, Mexico and Central America, the Caribbean and Europe. It is one of the few airlines with a 9-seat (instead of 8) cross-section in Economy on its A330 fleet, resulting in very narrow seats. On March 2020 it has been the last airline in the world to operate a regular commercial flight using the Airbus A310-300. On October 30, 2020 one of its brand-new Airbus A321LR established a record for the type so far, flying non-stop the 7,600km separating Montreal from Athens in Greece. Following approvation by TS shareholders, in December 2020 Air Canada announced the acquisition of the majority of Air Transat, but the deal fell apart in March 2021 (Photo Wikimedia Commons / Olivier Cabaret)
