The fifth airline (after Morris Air, Westjet, Jetblue and Azul) created by aviation guru David Neeleman, Breeze Airways was presented at the beginning of 2019, but its original plans had to be “frozen” for a year as the consequence of the Covid pandemic. Officially launched on May 21, 2021, it started operations on May 27 connecting 16 cities with 39 non-stop routes from four main bases located in Charleston, Tampa, New Orleans and Norfolk using a fleet of Embraer ERJ-190 and ERJ-195. The first Airbus A220-300 is scheduled to arrive in October, with a total of 60 aircraft of the type expected one every month along the following five years. While the ERJs are configured in a single-class layout, the A220s will sport a premium cabin. (Photo Breeze Airways)
