Founded in 2007, Somon Air is the first privately run airline in Tajikistan and the main competitor on national airline Tajik Air. From its Dushambe hub, it flies as far as Frankfurt in Europe, Dubai in the Middle East, Delhi in India and Urumqui in China, although its most important market is Russia. It features a Business Class cabin with a 2+2 cross section on its two B737-900ER, but the flight experience it offers is basic, with very limited amenities for passengers (no IFE at all). It is one of the few airlines in the world not having a frequent flyer programme. It is intentioned to substitute its 20+ years-old Boeing 737-300 with newer ERJ-190 (Photo Wikimedia Commons / Anna Zvereva)
