Alitalia is the first airline to offer Covid-tested return flights on the Atlantic

December 9, 2020 / Italian carrier Alitalia (AZ) has been the first in the world to introduce Covid-tested return flight across the Atlantic. All passengers onboard flight AZ609 departing NEW York JFK airport on December 8 have been requested to present the result of a PCR test executive within 48 hours prior to departure proving negativity to the virus, and to undergo an antigenic test at the airport.

After arrival in Italy, they had to undergo a further antigenic test at Fiumicino and prove negative, in order to skip quarantine measures. Passenger leaving to the US will be requested to undergo an antigenic test at Fiumicino before boarding flight AZ608 to JFK. Flight from Rome to New York are scheduled three times per week, operated by an Airbus A330-200 in three classes: Business, Premium Economy and Economy. (Photo Alitalia)
